My name is Chris Hynes. I am 36 years old (5/31), 5' 6", 160 lbs., and to answer the three biggest questions: I'm over 14 years into a 26 1/2 year sentence for second degree murder and will be eligible for parole in 12 1/2 years (10/2013). No! I did not commit the crime, and I am optimistic I am on my way to finally proving my innocence.
It has been a difficult task since my former trial lawyer has gone to prison himself, and the District Attorney has "lost" some of the files on my case, but I believe I will be in a position to prove I was deprived of effective assistance of counsel at my trial.
I am a fairly accomplished "Jailhouse Lawyer" with a handful of legal wins under my belt and have struggled to help try to change the justice system from the inside. Only with the help of you people on the outside, however, will any truely fair system of justice be remotely possible.
I am also an avid (possibly "rabid") sports fan!! I Keep myself in shape with plenty of exercise, handball, basketball and softball. I love the NY Knicks (NBA), N.Y. Yankees (MLB), and Miami Dolphins (NFL). I love Irish culture and history, not just the wee leprechauns and green beer. I hope to learn to speak and read Gaelic and, one day, travel Ireland.
